How We Play
Focused on Action
Your time is precious. We optimize our adventures for public play to squeeze in as much in-game time as possible. No "shopping episodes" here, folks. We design fast paced, action-oriented games so you get the epic adventure you signed up for.
Visually Immersive
Our goal is to light up your imagination. We design our games to use highly visual maps or terrain with painted 3D miniatures as much as possible to create a visually immersive experience.
Which type of player are you?
I’ve played D&D or other TTRPGs before
-
We use a streamlined system that is easy to learn, fast paced, and emphasizes player agency. It feels like classic D&D or other d20 games while being optimized for public play.
-
Pre-made characters are provided so you can pick a character with the play style that interests you and start playing. We want to start rolling dice quickly, so we don’t want to spend precious game time on character creation.
-
Treasure-based progression allows your character to experience leveling up in the limited time of a single adventure.
-
Games are action-oriented to create tension and excitement, and to keep the story moving forward quickly.
-
Roleplay through character action like quippy one-liners, sticking to a bit, or dramatic declarations are encouraged. Bring your 80s and 90s action movie vibes! All types of roleplay are rewarded!
I’m new to this whole D&D thing
-
We use a streamlined system that feels like authentic D&D but is so easy to learn that no rule books are required.
-
Pre-made characters are provided with a clear description of the role they are designed to perform. Just pick what interests you and start playing!
-
Treasure-based progression means you don’t need to worry about complicated rules for leveling up because new abilities are provided through treasure.
-
Games are action-oriented to emphasize clear, necessary actions so you aren’t confused about what to do next.
-
Roleplay through character action is encouraged, rather than funny voices or dramatic monologues. Games are structured to encourage fun “action movie” style roleplay, so feel free to bring your quippy one-liners! All types of roleplay are rewarded!
Why not Dungeons & Dragons 5E?
or other popular TTRPG system?
Dungeons & Dragons 5E is great for at-home play when time isn’t limited or when a group is engaged in an ongoing multi-session campaign. It doesn’t work as well when playing at a public table, likely with a group of strangers, when the game has to fit within a set amount of time. The rules are too complex to allow a group of players with widely varying experience levels to navigate the game with confidence. Rule books or other digital tools often get involved, which distract from the game itself.
Our main goal is to make sure every player has a great time, gets to experiences an epic adventure, and gets to celebrate their contributions to the group’s success. To achieve this goal we use a streamlined d20 system that feels like classic D&D, but is incredibly easy to learn simply by playing the game. It is so easy to play that we don’t even bring rule books to the table!
“That was fun! If playing D&D was like that, I would be willing to play a lot more.”
